Ozan Balık, M.D. was born in 1975. After he graduated from Adana Karşıyaka Highschool in 1992, he started Electronic Engineering major in Istanbul University. While he was having a series of operations he realized his tendency to medicine. In order to say “Don’t worry, they will be safe in here.” to patients’ relatives who wait in front of the operating room; he quit electronic engineering and studied medicine in Çukurova University Medical Faculty in 1993. From the first year of his education, he spent all of his free time in operating room to develop his surgical skills.
After he graduated from Çukurova University Medical Faculty in 1999, he worked in Viranşehir Public Hospital ER from 1999 to 2000, Göztepe SSK Hospital Anesthesia and Reanimation department from 2001 to 2002 and in 2002 he started to work in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Dokuz Eylül University, which is in İzmir. During his medical speciality period, he studied intensively on reconstructive microsurgery, which was his main interest. He proved that “reverse end-to-side nerve coaptation” can be used in peripheral nerve injury and he published his thesis that is called as “A Successful Neurotization of Two Different Muscles Using a Single Intact Motor Nerve” in Annals of Plastic Surgery.
In 2008, he received “National Board Certification” from Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. From 2008 to 2009 he worked as Plastic Surgery Clinic Chief in Edirne Public Hospital. Since 2010, Operating Surgeon Ozan Balık, M.D. continues his work at his private practice in İstanbul.
Operating Surgeon Ozan Balık, M.D. continues his studies on “Bilaminar Face Lifting and Structural Rhinoplasty” by adapting computer based 3D modeling to facial aesthetic surgery.
He is also interested in oil painting, novel writing and biomedical instrumentation design.
